KTH & Buteekh Host Iftar and Screening of Mo to Raise Funds for Gaza
In response to the devastating war on Gaza, Know Thy Heritage (KTH) and Buteekh organized a special Iftar and fundraising event, featuring a screening of the final episode of Mo (Season 3) on Netflix. The event aimed to shed light on the dire humanitarian crisis in Gaza, where families face extreme hardship, lacking basic necessities like food, clean water, and medical care.
Mo follows the journey of a Palestinian refugee navigating the complexities of U.S. immigration while striving to preserve his culture and identity. The final episode powerfully depicts his visit to his ancestral homeland—occupied Palestine—offering a deeply personal reflection on the Palestinian diaspora’s struggles.
Sir Rateb Rabie, President and CEO of KTH, led a discussion following the screening, emphasizing the resilience of Palestinians despite statelessness and adversity. “Palestinians continue to turn tragedy into hope, finding strength in their struggles. Mo highlights the injustices faced by the Palestinian diaspora when returning home, mirroring the experiences of KTH delegates who witness firsthand the realities of occupation,” he noted.
Mahmoud Sarhan, President of Buteekh and a first-generation Palestinian American, expressed gratitude for his dedicated team of young professionals from diverse backgrounds committed to peace, justice, and humanitarian aid. “Without their hard work, this event would not have been possible. With Eid al-Fitr approaching, it’s crucial to extend hope and support to the people of Gaza in their time of need,” he said.
A special thanks to Palestine Freedom House for graciously hosting our event, to all the donors for their generous contributions, and to the dedicated volunteers who made this gathering possible.
We call on all those with compassion and conscience to stand with Gaza. Your support can make a difference. Donate now and be part of this urgent humanitarian effort.
